About The Position

The Security Operations Center Specialist monitors and operates all security and safety systems, specified building management systems of the facilities and outdoor venues, and acts as the main communications link between Campus Security staff and outside emergency response operators. The Security Operations Center Specialist maintains an active and real-time awareness of the status of multiple facilities. This position monitors and assists with activities and events taking place in the buildings and on the grounds and is responsible for logging and reporting incidents so the appropriate personnel can respond. This position requires a team-oriented focus and the ability to work in an environment which may quickly move from relaxed to tense.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years of experience with security, surveillance agent, operator, or equivalent combination or work experience, training, and education required.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Physically and mentally fit to respond to emergency situations as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Continually and effectively monitor CCTV system to assist Campus Security staff patrolling the campus, immediately notifying Security Patrol of observed suspicious or inappropriate behavior or facility related emergencies, in accordance with campus policies.
  • Initiate incident reports based on reported or observed events, completing preliminary investigative steps and dispatching Campus Patrol when appropriate.
  • Effectively monitor security and building management systems, reporting all alarm conditions to Campus Security Manager and other departments, in accordance with campus policies.
  • Continually monitor all incoming radio and intercom communications and respond as necessary.
  • Monitor weather radar and other environmental notifiers, alerting Security and Operations personnel of incoming and active hazardous outdoor conditions.
  • Immediately log and report all suspicious conditions or persons; report accidents, injuries and/or hazardous conditions to a Campus Security Manager and other campus departments, in accordance with campus policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of Alarm, CCTV, Fire and Building Management system activities.
  • Effectively monitor and help coordinate evacuations and difficult situations according to campus and specific building policies.
  • Act as the telephone link with outside responding agencies such as Police, Fire, or other Emergency Care personnel.
  • Assist in the oversight of quarterly and yearly preventive maintenance activities with life safety system maintenance contractors.
  • Proactively seek and obtain information about policies/promotions, activities and events across campuses to provide high customer service.
  • Collect and organize analytics data collected from security cameras and other devices managed by Campus Security.
  • Manage and monitor checkout and return of temporary items such as physical keys, temporary credentials, radios, etc.
  • Provide real-time support for creating, altering, and deleting access room credentials and schedules.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
