About The Position

Novolex is seeking a Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager to lead our security operations team and manage outsourced services for Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Vulnerability Management. This critical role to strengthening our cybersecurity posture, driving operational excellence, and safeguarding our digital infrastructure. This position will be based out of Lake Forest, IL, Charlotte, NC, or remote.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of IT and cybersecurity experience.
  • At least 3 years in security operations, including 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of SOC technologies, including SIEM, SOAR, intrusion detection systems, web application firewalls, and IP reputation systems.
  • Strong grasp of the current cybersecurity threat landscape and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience in tuning correlation rules and managing security alerts.
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows environments, including host-based and network forensic techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead during incidents and crisis situations.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and mentorship to SOC analysts.
  • Coordinate with external MDR and vulnerability management providers to ensure SLAs and threat intelligence integration.
  • Develop and maintain SOC procedures, playbooks, and escalation paths.
  • Lead incident response efforts and post-incident reviews.
  • Monitor and report on key security metrics and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, risk, and compliance teams to strengthen detection and response maturity.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational discipline, and resilience.
