The Study at University of Chicago, the third property in the Study Hotels brand, is located on the Midway Plaisance of the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. The hotel features 167 rooms and areas designed for discovery and connection, promoting purposeful guest interaction. Guest rooms and public spaces feature a bright, uplifting palette and a contemporary residential aesthetic.

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.
• A minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.
• A consistent ability to maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor is essential.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective interaction with hotel departments, guests, and vendors.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills are mandatory.
• Outstanding organizational skills, including follow-up, time management, and the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment, are vital.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required.
• Proficiency in the English language is mandatory; proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset.
• The ability to grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise move goods weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary.
• The individual must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during a full shift, both indoors in a climate-controlled environment and outdoors during rounds.
• Capable of performing property rounds in non-extreme weather conditions.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Candidates must complete a background check.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in the Spanish language is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of the premises to ensure everything is orderly.
• Check in vendors and deliveries, ensuring they have the appropriate escort throughout the back areas of the hotel.
• Monitor CCTV systems and collaborate with the Dir. of Rooms to identify areas of vulnerability.
• Investigate accidents, thefts, and safety concerns related to guests, coordinating with Human Resources for incidents involving team members.
• Maintain and monitor lost and found processes and procedures.
• Conduct key maintenance, perform departmental key control audits, and maintain key control records.
• Uphold emergency safety procedures.
• Prepare reports on all activities within the hotel.
• Report incidents to the appropriate channels.
• Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
