As an Access Control Officer in a healthcare location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, and direct staff, patients, and visitors with professional customer service. You will conduct routine patrols and monitor activity to help identify security-related concerns, document incidents, and support emergency response as needed. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.

  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access to the location by verifying identification, authorizations, and appointment or work status before granting entry.
  • Process visitors, vendors, and contractors by completing sign-in requirements, issuing temporary credentials as directed, and communicating access instructions.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, alarmed doors, and restricted areas, reporting unusual activity and/or access violations according to site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating notifications to site leadership and emergency services when required.
  • Conduct bag, package, and/or delivery screening as directed by site policy, documenting prohibited items and escalating concerns through the chain of command.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports for access activity, incidents, and policy exceptions using written forms and/or electronic systems.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location, including lobbies, corridors, parking areas, and perimeter points where applicable.
  • Working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Assist with crowd and queue management during high-traffic periods such as visiting hours, shift changes, and special events, helping to deter disorderly conduct.
  • Support additional security-related duties as assigned, including supporting lockdown procedures, guiding responders to incident locations, and preserving incident information for follow-up.
