About The Position

As a Security Officer in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will conduct routine foot patrols, stay highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents, and support staff and residents through clear communication and respectful customer service. You will document observations, respond to concerns, and work as part of a team that is agile, reliable, and innovative, with a caring culture that puts people first and always acts with integrity.

Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have 1+ years of security-related experience.
  • Client requires proof of high school diploma or GED.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including common spaces, entrances, and perimeter points, noting unusual activity and potential hazards.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation, documenting events, and notifying site leadership and/or emergency services when appropriate.
  • Monitor access points and visitor flow, help to maintain orderly entry and exit, and report policy violations and/or concerning behavior to the appropriate personnel.
  • Complete detailed reports and daily logs, communicate shift handoff information, and support Allied Universal and site staff with security-related observations and follow-up actions.
