SUMMARY: Reports to the Security Manager and is responsible for monitoring utilization of restricted parking areas, patrolling the assigned parking areas, and reporting any unusual or suspicious activities to the Security Dispatcher for investigation. Protects Hospital buildings, assets and premises as assigned and provides a safe and secure environment for patients, employees and visitors. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Is aware of all building locations and parking areas on the hospital complex, observes unsafe conditions, and reports them to Security (Base) for investigation to ensure a secure and safe environment of care.Patrols assigned areas to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and intruders. Monitors conduct of visitors on Hospital premises; confronts unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. Reports security and safety violations and/or fire hazards to appropriate personnel.Challenges any individual acting suspiciously. Provides security presence for suicide/combative patients and restrains when requested by medical staff.Participates in security investigations, maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.Secures offices and facilities as required. May be asked to secure certain personal articles of visitors or lost and found articles and maintain a log of items received. Checks building and department doors in Hospital complex, after hours, to ensure they are locked.Controls parking and traffic flow; enforces parking regulations. Assists employees, if feasible, who have minor problems with their vehicles.May assist visitors with giving directions to departments within the Hospital, escorting them if necessary.Checks people entering after visiting hours, preventing entrance of unauthorized or undesirable persons. Asks for visitor’s destination with Hospital campus, contracting Hospital personnel to verify appropriateness of visit. After communication with others Security personnel, may forcibly eject inebriated or uncontrollable persons from premises with assistance as necessary from other Security personnel.Provides escort services to bank for fiscal service employees depositing funds and to parking areas for employees working morning, evening or night shifts. Escort services may require driving the hospital owned/leased motor vehicle including greeting passengers with courtesy and tact, and providing assistance as necessary for safe vehicle entry and exit.Responds to “Codes” according to policy and procedure.Responsible for proper handling, usage and maintenance of Hospital radio equipment including replacing batteries or arranging for repairs as needed.Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established Brown University Health policy and the Fleet Risk Control Policy and procedures.Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
