About The Position

As a Security Officer - Warehouse - Unarmed in Markham, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. Join Allied Universal at a fast-paced tech location as an unarmed patrol officer in a driving post. You will conduct routine vehicle and foot patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support teams and visitors with clear communication and customer service. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Comfortable using computer or tablet - preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, including offices, lobbies, loading areas, parking areas, stairwells and exterior walkways. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access control points for a technology campus environment, checking credentials, assisting with visitor management and directing employees, contractors and delivery personnel.
  • Help to deter unauthorized entry, theft and/or vandalism by maintaining a visible presence, observing for unusual activity and reporting concerns per site procedures.
  • Operate and monitor security-related systems such as CCTV, intrusion alarms, intercoms and/or access control platforms, documenting events and escalating issues as needed.
  • Conduct patrol observations for door status, suspicious packages, propped doors, restricted areas and/or equipment anomalies, and report maintenance issues through established channels.
  • Complete required reports such as daily activity logs, incident reports and shift pass-downs with accurate, timely and detailed information.
  • Support emergency response activities by assisting with evacuations, shelter-in-place procedures and communication with site contacts and public responders as directed.
  • Provide customer-focused assistance by answering questions, giving directions and de-escalating tense situations using verbal skills consistent with site policy.
