Job Description As a Security Officer - University Rover Patrol in Norfolk, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at an education location, you will conduct routine foot patrols of buildings and grounds, remain highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors with clear communication and customer service. You will document observations, report concerns, and support campus operations with teamwork and integrity in a caring culture that values being agile, reliable, and innovative.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, campus-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, parking lots, and perimeter routes; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and calls for service in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with access control concerns and reporting suspicious activity.
  • Monitor assigned areas for policy violations, hazards, and unusual conditions, and notify appropriate campus contacts and/or public services as needed.
  • Complete shift activity logs and incident reports, document observations, and communicate relevant information during post operations and shift transitions.
