Security Officer - Unarmed Riverfront Patrol
About The Position
As a Security Officer - Unarmed Riverfront Patrol in Canoga Park, CA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy retail and mall location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and assist guests and store teams with clear communication and customer service. You will conduct routine rounds, respond to issues as they arise, and document observations. At Allied Universal, you will bring agility, reliability, and integrity to a team that puts people first.
Requirements
- A guard card/license is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Nice To Haves
- Handcuffing certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
- The ability to ride a bike for long periods of time is preferred.
- Pepper spray certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to visitors, tenants, and store associates while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout retail common areas, storefront corridors, restrooms, loading and service areas, and exterior perimeters to help to deter unwanted activity.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and customer concerns in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with on-site management and/or local responders as needed.
- Monitor entrances, parking areas, and high-traffic zones, assisting with access control, crowd flow, and de-escalation of disturbances as appropriate for an unarmed post.
- Document patrol activity, incidents, and observations in written reports and logs, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal supervision and site leadership.
