About The Position

As a Security Officer - Unarmed - Petro Site in Michigan City, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support onsite teams with clear communication and customer service. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license under AU Driver Policy Requirements. Requirements

Proof of high school diploma or GED is required.
A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
Customer service experience is preferred.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to clients and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a chemical and/or petrochemical location.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including spills, odors, alarms, and other unusual conditions, and notify appropriate site contacts and/or public responders per post orders.
Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of production areas, tank and pipe corridors, docks, parking areas, and perimeter fencing to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify hazards or abnormal conditions.
Control access at gates and/or entry points by verifying credentials, logging arrivals and departures, issuing visitor directions, and following site rules for contractors and deliveries.
Monitor cameras, intrusion and/or fire panels, radios, and telephones, and communicate status updates and incident information to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives.
Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and shift handoff briefings with accurate details and clear timelines.
Support site emergency procedures by assisting with evacuations, accountability checkpoints, traffic control, and perimeter control as directed by site leadership.
Observe and report damaged equipment, open gates, unsecured doors, and/or suspicious behavior, and submit maintenance and/or service requests through approved channels.
Enforce site rules in a respectful manner, including restricted-area controls, parking compliance, and visitor conduct expectations.
Operate in varied outdoor and indoor environments, including rotating patrol routes, uneven terrain, and changing weather conditions, while maintaining professional customer service.
