Job Description As a Security Officer - Shipping Gate Monitor in West Columbia, SC , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will monitor entry points, verify badges and credentials, manage visitor access, and conduct routine patrols to help to deter security-related incidents. You will stay highly visible, communicate clearly with team members and site leadership, and deliver customer-focused assistance to drivers and associates. Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to site personnel, drivers, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Control access at entrances, guard shacks, and/or loading dock areas by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, and directing authorized individuals to the proper location.
Screen and process visitors, contractors, and vendors by completing sign-in requirements, confirming appointments, and maintaining visitor logs in accordance with site procedures.
Manage vehicle and trailer entry and exit by checking driver identification, reviewing shipping documentation when required, and documenting arrivals and departures.
Monitor surveillance cameras, alarm panels, and access control systems to help identify unusual activity and report concerns per post orders.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting site leadership and/or emergency services as directed.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and report hazards or suspicious activity.
Complete detailed shift reports and incident documentation, including access control activity, irregularities, and follow-up actions, and communicate information during shift turnovers.
