About The Position

As a Security Officer - Emergency Shelter Patrol in Austin, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will help monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support residents, staff, and visitors through clear communication, timely reporting, and professional customer service. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at the shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, behavioral concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, requesting assistance from site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout interior areas, entry points, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter prohibited activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Control access by monitoring doors, checking identification and/or visitor logs when required, and directing individuals to appropriate areas based on site rules.
  • Document patrols, incidents, and notable observations in written reports and/or electronic systems, and communicate pertinent information to oncoming personnel and site contacts.
