As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine rounds, remain highly visible, and help to deter security-related incidents through observation and clear communication. You will greet staff and guests with professional customer service while documenting activity and reporting concerns promptly. Requirements

Be 21+ years of age.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.

Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

A guard card/license is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to staff, residents, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the shelter property, including interior common areas, exterior grounds, parking areas, and perimeter points. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
Help to deter unauthorized entry and loitering by maintaining a consistent presence and monitoring access points.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, using de-escalation techniques and clear communication.
Monitor cameras, alarms, and other site systems when assigned, and report unusual activity per post orders.
Complete routine checks of doors, gates, lighting, and other physical conditions, and promptly notify site contacts of concerns.
Assist with visitor management by greeting arrivals, verifying authorization when required, and directing individuals according to site procedures.
Support staff with orderly movement in shared spaces by providing directions, setting expectations for conduct, and addressing disturbances within policy.
Document patrol activity, incidents, and service requests in written reports and/or electronic logs, including accurate times and observations.
Coordinate with local emergency services when needed, relay relevant information, and support incident scene control until relieved.
Follow Allied Universal and site-specific policies regarding confidentiality, respectful interaction, and professional conduct in a resident-focused environment.
