As an Access Control Officer at a respected cultural institution, you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and support a welcoming environment for visitors, staff, and guests. This role combines visible presence, routine patrols, and strong communication to help reduce security-related incidents while delivering exceptional service. Requirements

  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, clergy, volunteers, and/or vendors by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a cultural institution location.
  • Monitor entrances, verify identification and/or credentials, manage visitor entry procedures, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns according to site protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, gathering spaces, and perimeter areas, noting unusual activity and/or conditions that may require attention.
  • Support access management during services, events, and special programs by directing foot traffic, assisting with entry points, and communicating clearly with site contacts and Allied Universal leadership.
