About The Position

As a Security Officer - Overnight Shelter Patrol in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine foot patrols, maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents, and support access control and badge checks. You will communicate clearly with staff, residents, and visitors, document observations, and respond to situations with professionalism and care. Requirements

  • Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
  • Have at least 1 year of security experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma and/or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities within a shelter location.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout interior common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or property damage.
  • Monitor access points, verify authorization for residents, staff, vendors, and visitors, and assist with maintaining orderly entry and exit during high-traffic periods.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including verbal de-escalation, documenting events, and contacting site leadership and/or emergency services when appropriate.
  • Complete patrol logs and incident reports per Allied Universal and site requirements, communicate pertinent information during shift transitions, and report maintenance or operational concerns observed during rounds.
