You will respond to calls for service with clear communication and strong customer service, document observations, and report hazards and/or policy concerns. Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to passengers, employees, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of transit facilities, platforms, concourses, entrances, stairwells, elevators, and surrounding perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Observe and report unusual activity, suspicious behavior, and/or unsecured areas to site leadership and appropriate public agency partners, following post orders and escalation protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with crowd movement and maintaining orderly conditions during service disruptions and special events.
  • Help to deter unauthorized access by monitoring gates, doors, and restricted areas; verify credentials and/or direct individuals to proper entry points when required by post orders.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and/or communication systems when assigned, and document security-related observations and incidents in a timely manner.
  • Provide directions and general information to the public, assist with lost and found reporting as directed, and support a professional customer experience while maintaining post awareness.
  • Complete daily activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation with accurate details and clear descriptions.
  • Coordinate with Allied Universal supervisors and site representatives, and communicate relevant information during shift change briefings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and follow Allied Universal standards, including adherence to post orders, radio procedures, and required training and reporting practices.
