Overview: The Durst Organization is seeking a Security Officer II to work the following schedule: Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm, Days Off Saturday/Sunday Post: Loading Dock This position is a Full Time, Local 32BJ union position and will be based at 1155 6th Avenue. Pay Rate is $23.53 per hour. Additionally, this position would be eligible for overtime for all hours actually worked, consistent with the Local 32BJ Collective Bargaining Agreement. The overtime rate is $35.295 an hour. Please note that wages are subject to tax withholdings and other applicable deductions.
Requirements
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and follow safety procedures
- Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
- Must possess agility, and visual and auditory acuity to perform the essential responsibilities of this position
- Demonstrated ability to listen and communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously in both emergency and non- emergency situations
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time, typically for the duration of an 8-hour shift
- Must have a technical aptitude and willingness to learn how to perform security x-ray and screening procedure and use required equipment
- Successful candidates will have earned their high school diplomas or equivalent.
- Must possess an in-force New York State Security Guard License (8 & 16 hours)
Nice To Haves
- Knowledgeable and ability to use x-ray image recognition, Magnetometer alarm resolution, and related technologies preferred
- College level course coursework is a plus
- NYC Fire Safety Certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Security Officers will be required to execute a number of comprehensive and integrated security measures and countermeasures and must be able to adapt physically to the changing needs and priorities of the Security Organization.
- Security posts may vary and may include exposure to varying weather conditions.
