Job Description As a Security Officer - Gate Access in Torrance, CA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Access Control Officer with Allied Universal at a chemical and petrochemical location, you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and help to deter unauthorized access. Your presence and routine patrols will support a secure environment while delivering outstanding customer service. You will interact with visitors and staff, utilize technology to manage access, and contribute to a team that values integrity, reliability, and putting people first.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at the chemical and petrochemical location.
• Monitor and control access points to help to deter unauthorized entry and maintain a secure environment for personnel and visitors.
• Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and perimeter to observe and report any suspicious activity or security-related concerns.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols for the location.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of all security-related activities, incidents, and observations as required by site procedures.
• Assist with the implementation of site-specific security-related protocols, including those related to hazardous materials and emergency response.
• Communicate and collaborate with site personnel and emergency responders as needed to address incidents and/or potential threats.
