About The Position

As a Security Officer - Freight Screening in Indianapolis, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As a Screener with Allied Universal at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will support day-to-day operations by monitoring entry points, greeting associates and visitors, and conducting screening procedures that help identify prohibited items and reduce security-related incidents. You will stay visible, document activity, communicate clearly with site teams, and respond to situations with professionalism, teamwork, and integrity in a caring, people-first culture.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
  • The ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Loss prevention experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Screen and control access at entrances and shipping and receiving points by checking identification, verifying credentials, and following visitor and contractor sign-in processes.
  • Perform package, bag, and/or vehicle screening as required, including use of screening equipment and visual inspections in accordance with site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including documenting events and communicating with site leadership and Allied Universal management.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility and perimeter, including monitoring dock areas, staging lanes, and parking areas for irregular activity and/or policy violations.
