As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to requests, document observations, and communicate clearly with staff and residents while delivering customer service. Requirements

• Possess a New York State Security Guard License.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, staff, and visitors at a shelter location by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random foot patrols of interior common areas, entrances, stairwells, and exterior perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or property damage.
• Monitor access points and visitor flow by observing for prohibited items or behavior, directing individuals to appropriate check-in areas, and/or escalating concerns per post orders.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts when possible and/or requesting assistance from site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
• Complete security-related reports and documentation such as shift logs, incident reports, and patrol activity notes, and communicate observations to the next shift and site contacts.
