About The Position

As a Security Officer - Industrial Foot Patrol in Cedar Rapids, IA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Manufacturing & Industrial, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a manufacturing and industrial location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will document observations, support access control, and communicate clearly with site teams and visitors. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to all personnel and visitors by carrying out post orders, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting actions taken and notifying supervision as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols throughout production areas, warehouses, loading docks, parking areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Monitor access points and verify identification and/or authorization for employees, contractors, and visitors, following sign-in procedures and directing visitors to designated areas.
  • Control vehicle access at gates and delivery areas as assigned, checking credentials, logging entries and exits, and reporting irregularities.
  • Observe for unusual conditions such as open doors, unsecured areas, damaged fencing, or suspicious behavior, and report findings through required channels.
  • Monitor alarms, radios, telephones, and other communications equipment, and coordinate response per site procedures.
  • Complete shift activity reports, incident reports, and patrol documentation using written logs and/or electronic systems.
  • Provide clear directions and assistance during drills and/or real events such as evacuations, severe weather, or medical incidents, consistent with site procedures.
  • Support loss prevention and security-related compliance by following chain-of-command, maintaining confidentiality, and treating all individuals with professionalism and respect.
