Job Description As a Security Officer - Entry Control Desk in Patchogue, NY , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an Access Control Officer at an education location, you will greet visitors, verify credentials, manage entry points, and monitor alarms and access activity to help reduce security-related incidents. You will conduct routine patrols, stay visible, and communicate clearly with staff and students while documenting key events using a computer and/or tablet. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an education location.
  • Operate access control functions by greeting and directing students, staff, and visitors, verifying identification and/or authorization, issuing visitor credentials, and maintaining visitor, delivery, and contractor logs.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and controlled areas, reporting unauthorized access attempts, suspicious activity, and policy violations according to post orders and escalation protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, communicating with campus personnel and/or public responders as directed.
  • Complete required reports and documentation such as incident reports, access logs, and shift activity summaries, and communicate relevant information during shift turnover.
