The Security Officer position is responsible for the day to day activities of ensuring a safe and secure Children's campus. The Security Officer will maintain a safe environment through patrol of the hospital, grounds and outlying buildings. He/She will respond to all calls both emergency and non-emergency as they occur or in order of importance. The Security Officer's core role is to promote a safe environment for patients, visitors and hospital employees. Must possess a valid driver's license (must meet minimum criteria of Children's Minnesota Fleet Safety Management policy). Must be able to successfully pass background checks of the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) and Department of Human Services (DHS). Must be able to prepare verbal and written reports. Good verbal, writing and computer skills required. Must complete and pass use of force training within 30 days of hire. Must complete and pass Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training within 90 days of hire. Must be able to wear respiratory protection (N-95 respirator, full face respirator and PAPR), be fit tested and able to pass respirator physical.
