About The Position

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Staff members provide campus patrols utilizing patrol vehicles, Gator 4x4, and foot patrols. Staff members answer calls for service including responding to medical emergency calls. Staff members conduct safety inspections of the buildings as well. Staff members transport residents to locations on campus. Also included in this position is the expectation that the person in this job will: Serve, Protect, and Support the residents, staff, and visitors of Carol Woods Retirement Community. Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
• Unencumbered, current NC Driver’s License
• Ability to conduct foot patrols around the campus and drive vehicles around the campus.
• Lift up to 75 pounds
• Stand and/or sit for lengthy periods.
• Be able to physically assist and evacuate residents from buildings. This includes climbing multiple steps/ multiple times.
• Competencies Communication Confidentiality Judgement Problem Solving

Nice To Haves

• A background / training in security, law enforcement, firefighting, or EMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls for service dispatched from the Communications Desk.
• Patrol the 130-acre campus using various modes of transportation.
• Respond to medical emergency calls and render aid and assistance.
• Respond to fire alarms and render aid and assistance.
• Conduct Fire Drills to train staff on how to render aid and assistance.
• Assist Chapel Hill PD, Chapel Hill FD, and Orange County EMS when they arrive on campus.
• Transport residents to various locations and events on campus.
• Serve as a backup Tele-Communicator if needed.
• Conduct any other assignment from management.
