Job Description As a Security Officer - Data Center Patrol in Suffolk, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a fast-paced tech and media location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that can help to deter security-related incidents. You will support access points, observe and report unusual activity, and provide a welcoming, customer-focused experience through clear communication. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a technology-focused location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, communicating clearly with site contacts and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout interior areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter routes, adjusting patrol patterns based on site activity and conditions.
  • Monitor access points and help to deter unauthorized entry by observing for unusual conditions, verifying credentials when directed by site policy, and reporting concerns.
  • Observe and document security-related incidents, policy violations, and maintenance or hazard concerns, completing accurate reports and logs in a timely manner.
  • Use site systems and tools such as radios, phones, and visitor management processes to support incident response, patrol coordination, and communication.
  • Assist with security-related support during alarms, service disruptions, medical situations, and other urgent events by following post orders and established escalation procedures.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-service focused presence while interacting with employees, contractors, drivers, and visitors, providing directions and general assistance as needed.
  • Support loss prevention and asset protection efforts by observing for suspicious behavior, reporting concerns, and preserving information for follow-up when required.
  • Participate in shift briefings and follow post orders, including any location-specific requirements related to delivery areas, loading zones, and restricted spaces.
