As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government public service location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to concerns with calm, professional communication. This role requires an armed guard card/license. You will support staff and visitors with customer-focused service while working as part of a reliable, agile team that leads with integrity and a people-first culture.

Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Possess an armed guard card and/or license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff and visitors at a government library location by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random armed foot and/or vehicle patrols of library buildings, reading areas, parking lots, and perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, suspicious activity, and/or medical events, and notify appropriate site contacts and/or public emergency services as needed.
  • Operate with assigned firearm and related equipment in accordance with Allied Universal policies, post orders, and applicable laws, including participating in required qualifications, inspections, and documentation.
  • Complete shift reports, incident reports, and patrol logs; assist with access control and visitor management as directed by post orders to help support a professional environment.
