Job Description As a Security Officer - Armed Government Patrol in Birmingham, AL , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government transit location, you will conduct routine patrols and remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will respond to calls for assistance, observe and report unusual activity, and support staff and riders with clear communication and strong customer service. Bring integrity, teamwork, and a people-first mindset while helping keep operations running smoothly.

Requirements

Possess a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit.
Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

CPR Certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
Handcuffing Certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Perform armed patrol duties in accordance with Allied Universal policies, post orders, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Conduct regular and random patrols of government transit facilities, platforms, parking areas, vehicle lanes, and perimeter points to help to deter unauthorized activity.
Control access at designated entry points, verify identification and/or credentials when required, and maintain visitor and contractor logs per site policy.
Monitor cameras, alarms, radio traffic, and other security-related systems, and report unusual activity to site leadership and/or local authorities as directed.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, trespassing, suspicious persons, and property damage.
Write detailed incident reports and shift logs, document observations, and preserve information and/or evidence in accordance with post orders.
Provide visible presence and customer assistance to employees and members of the public, including giving directions and supporting orderly operations at the location.
Coordinate with law enforcement, emergency services, and site management during incidents, following established communication and escalation procedures.
Conduct bag or package screening and/or vehicle checks when directed by post orders, using approved search procedures and maintaining professional interactions.
