About The Position

As a Security Officer - Armed Driver Patrol Route in Spruce Pine, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government corrections location, you will conduct routine rounds, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support staff and visitors through clear communication and customer service. This post requires a valid driver’s license to complete vehicle patrols and respond across the site as needed. Bring integrity, teamwork, and a people-first mindset to every shift.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • An armed guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized contractors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government correctional location.
  • Conduct armed foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, entrances, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Control access by checking identification, verifying authorization, screening for prohibited items per post orders, and directing individuals to appropriate areas.
  • Respond to alarms, incidents, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with site personnel and/or public law enforcement as directed.
  • Complete security-related reports and logs, document incidents and unusual activity, and communicate status updates to supervision according to post orders.
