About The Position

As a Security Officer - Armed Civic Patrol Driver in Richmond, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will conduct routine patrols and visibility rounds, respond to incidents, and support a professional, service-focused environment through clear communication. This post requires a valid driver’s license and an armed guard card or license, offering a dynamic role where agility, reliability, innovation, teamwork, and integrity help guide every shift.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • A minimum of 1 year of security experience is required.
  • An armed guard card/license is required.
  • Client requires proof of HS Diploma/GED.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of government facilities, administrative areas, grounds, parking areas and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity.
  • Control access at designated entrances and posts by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials and directing guests and deliveries according to site procedures.
  • Monitor alarms, surveillance systems and radio traffic, and communicate observations and incidents to the appropriate personnel and/or dispatch.
  • Perform armed post duties in accordance with applicable laws, licensing requirements and site directives, maintaining proper weapon retention and handling at all times.
  • Complete detailed reports and logs of patrol activity, incidents, maintenance issues and policy violations, and submit documentation per site requirements.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, severe weather and building evacuations, including guiding occupants to designated assembly areas.
  • Conduct checks of doors, gates and restricted areas, reporting unsecured conditions and/or suspicious activity to site leadership and Allied Universal management.
  • Support government staff and visitors with directions and general information while maintaining awareness of security-related conditions.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and/or emergency services when requested, preserving the scene and providing statements consistent with training and policy.
  • Participate in required training, briefings and inspections, and follow post orders, chain of command and professional appearance standards.
