Job Description As a Security Officer - Armed Area Patrol in Birmingham, AL , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an armed patrol officer supporting a government transit location, where you will conduct routine patrols, remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and assist riders and staff with clear, professional communication. You will respond to concerns, document activities, and work closely with site partners using teamwork and integrity. Requirements

• Possess a concealed carry weapons permit.
• Have at least 1 year of security experience.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• CPR certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
• Handcuffing certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to riders, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at government transit facilities.
• Patrol transit centers, parking areas, platforms, and surrounding perimeter areas on a regular and random basis to help to deter unwanted activity; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, coordinating with site leadership and/or public law enforcement, and following post orders.
• Control access to restricted areas, monitor for suspicious behavior or prohibited items, and maintain a visible armed presence in accordance with Allied Universal policies and applicable laws.
• Complete detailed reports and logs, document incidents and observed hazards, and communicate status updates using radios, phones, and other approved communication systems.
