As a Part-Time Security Officer for Access Screening in Portsmouth, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Government. This role offers flexibility to build a schedule using the Claim a Shift platform. You will join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer at a dynamic government location, managing entry points, verifying credentials, and monitoring activity to support a professional environment. The position involves remaining visible, conducting routine patrols, deterring security-related incidents, and delivering outstanding customer service and communication. Requirements

  • A TSA issued TWIC is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, access control protocols, and/or emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted areas.
  • Screen visitors, vendors, deliveries, and/or vehicles in accordance with post orders and applicable location requirements.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report security-related concerns to the appropriate contacts.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, gates, docks, roadways, and perimeter areas, as working environments and conditions may vary by location.
