About The Position

As a Security Officer Access Screening in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a dynamic chemical and petrochemical location, you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, and support site protocols that help promote a secure environment. This role blends visible presence, routine activity, and customer service while using communication and technology skills. Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a chemical processing location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and/or visitor authorization, and document arrivals, departures, and restricted area access in accordance with site protocols.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate with site contacts and/or local responders as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, gates, and perimeter areas to help to deter unauthorized access and identify unusual conditions or security-related concerns.
  • Support vehicle and delivery access activities by checking required documentation, directing traffic flow, and reporting policy violations, maintenance issues, and/or suspicious activity to the appropriate personnel.
