Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Control in Detroit, MI , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. At Allied Universal, you will support access control at a cultural institution by greeting guests and staff, verifying credentials, issuing visitor passes, monitoring cameras and entry areas, and reporting unusual activity. You will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with the team. Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Have a valid Drivers License for at least 1 year
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws. Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, clergy, contractors, and/or vendors by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a cultural institution location.
  • Control access at designated entrances by greeting and screening visitors, verifying identification and/or authorization, managing visitor logs and credentials, and directing individuals to approved areas.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and access control systems; report irregular activity, maintenance issues, and/or policy concerns to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical calls, disputes, and/or building evacuations, and document events in written reports.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior spaces and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized entry, identify hazards such as unsecured doors or restricted areas, and assist with crowd flow during services, meetings, and/or special events.
