About The Position

As a Security Officer - Access Control in Jackson, MS, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a utilities location, you will manage site entry points, verify credentials, issue badges, and guide visitors and contractors through check-in procedures. You will maintain clear logs, communicate concerns promptly, and support a professional, customer-focused experience while helping to reduce security-related incidents. Requirements

  • Have at least 1+ years of security experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • The ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to all personnel and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access control requirements, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Control entry and exit at gates and/or checkpoints by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, maintaining sign-in and sign-out logs, and directing visitors to designated areas.
  • Monitor security-related alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems; communicate unusual activity and/or system issues to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including documenting events, completing required reports, and notifying appropriate contacts.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of buildings, restricted areas, and the perimeter; check doors, fences, and equipment areas to help to deter unauthorized access and/or damage.
