Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Control Specialist in West Columbia, SC , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a fast-paced tech and telecom location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor alarms and/or access systems, and document activity using computers or tablets. You will remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents while delivering professional customer service and clear communication. Requirements

  • Have at least 2 years of security experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients at a technology and telecommunications location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Monitor access points and manage visitor processing, including verifying identification, issuing badges, maintaining access logs, and coordinating with site contacts for approvals.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating conflicts when appropriate and escalating concerns through established communication channels.
  • Support access control operations for employees, contractors, deliveries, and vendors by following screening protocols and directing individuals to the correct entry procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, documenting observations and reporting maintenance issues, hazards, and/or suspicious activity per site procedure.
