Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Control Post in CHANNAHON , IL , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Chemical/Petrochemical, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a chemical and/or petrochemical location, you will help monitor entry points, verify credentials, and manage badge access for employees and visitors. You will help conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence, respond to alarms and security-related concerns, and document activity using a computer and/or tablet. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel, contractors, and visitors by following security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an industrial chemical and/or petrochemical location.
  • Control access at gates and/or checkpoints by verifying identification, authorizations, and appointments; issue temporary credentials as directed; and maintain accurate visitor and vendor logs.
  • Perform vehicle and delivery screening activities as required, including directing traffic flow, checking shipping and receiving documentation, and reporting irregularities according to post orders.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications, documenting events, and supporting on-site teams during alarms and/or process area events.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of entry points, perimeter areas, and nearby facilities to help reduce unauthorized access and/or policy violations; report and document hazards, damaged fencing, and suspicious activity.
