Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Control Gate in Norfolk, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer, you will play a key role in access control for a busy logistics and distribution location. Your responsibilities include monitoring entry points, conducting routine patrols, and remaining visible to help deter security-related incidents. You will also provide top-notch customer service and clear communication, contributing to a welcoming environment. Requirements

At least one year of security-related experience is required.
A Transportation Security Administration issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential is required.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

A guard card or license is preferred.
Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Monitor and control access to the logistics and distribution location, verifying credentials and authorizations of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity.
Document and report any security-related incidents, unusual observations, and/or maintenance issues encountered during patrols.
Communicate professionally with staff, visitors, and/or contractors to provide assistance and relay important information as needed.
Support Allied Universal and client management with additional security-related tasks as assigned, adapting to the unique needs of the logistics and distribution environment.
