Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Control Gate in Norfolk, VA , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer, you will play a key role in access control for a busy logistics and distribution location. Your responsibilities include monitoring entry points, conducting routine patrols, and remaining visible to help deter security-related incidents. You will also provide top-notch customer service and clear communication, contributing to a welcoming environment. Requirements

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • A Transportation Security Administration issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential is required.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • A guard card or license is preferred.
  • Experience with access control or badge systems is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Monitor and control access to the logistics and distribution location, verifying credentials and authorizations of individuals entering and exiting the premises.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and its perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity.
  • Document and report any security-related incidents, unusual observations, and/or maintenance issues encountered during patrols.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, visitors, and/or contractors to provide assistance and relay important information as needed.
  • Support Allied Universal and client management with additional security-related tasks as assigned, adapting to the unique needs of the logistics and distribution environment.
