Security Officer - Access Control Desk
About The Position
As a Security Officer - Access Control Desk in Sparrows Point, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Officer in a fast-paced logistics and distribution location, you will focus on access control by welcoming drivers and associates, checking credentials, managing visitor and vehicle entry, and documenting security-related activity. You will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help to deter incidents, and communicate clearly with site leadership. Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to clients, visitors, and drivers by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Control entry and exit at gates and/or guard shacks by verifying identification, visitor purpose, and authorization for employees, contractors, and delivery personnel.
- Monitor inbound and outbound vehicle and trailer traffic, coordinate with dock and yard operations as needed, and document entries, exits, and exceptions per post orders.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report details to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas such as entrances, parking areas, yard perimeters, and loading zones to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
