About The Position

As a Security Officer - 21+ Evening Patrol in Washington, DC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol galleries, public spaces, and back-of-house areas to help support a welcoming environment. You will conduct routine rounds, remain highly visible, document and report security-related concerns, and assist visitors and staff with clear communication and customer service. Requirements

  • Be 21+ Years of Age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and vendors by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control requirements, and emergency response activities as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout galleries, exhibit areas, offices, loading areas, and exterior grounds to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor entrances, interior spaces, and public areas for policy compliance, prohibited items, and disruptive behavior, and/or assist with queue management and special event crowd flow as needed.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and service requests in a calm, problem-solving manner; document observations and actions in daily activity reports and incident reports.
  • Support protection of collections and facility assets by observing for environmental concerns, tampering, and unsecured doors, and/or coordinating with site personnel and public responders when escalation is required.
