About The Position

The Security Monitor provides overall facility monitoring and surveillance through regular facility rounds, maintains log of people entering and exiting the facility. Conducts fire drills and maintains logbooks on fire drills and emergency apparatus. The security staff also documents accounts of residents’ non-compliance of curfews, and other rules and regulations. Salary: $34,307

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid NY State Registration as a Security Guard.
  • Three (3) years’ experience as a security monitor.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a 24-hour residential facility.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision and as a team player.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues of homeless families.
  • Must have ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills are required.
  • Must be computer literate and must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Will be required to read printed and handwritten materials.
  • Will be required to manipulate the computer mouse and keyboard.
  • Will be required to read information on computer screen.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to enter information in digital forms and spreadsheets.
  • May require occasional work outside established working hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual, Mandarin or Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain logs of visitors entering and exiting the premises and record all unusual incidents based on established procedures, while ensuring that only authorized personnel and visitors enter the property.
  • Surveillance of the grounds, facility and activities of the residents to prevent theft and resident harm.
  • Ensure that all doors from the facility are locked and secured.
  • Monitor fire and safety procedures.
  • Provide administrative support in office coverage, telephone and clerical work.
  • Perform light maintenance responsibilities in the absence of maintenance staff.
  • Function independently in terms of facility coverage including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situations per agency procedures.
  • Meet with Security Supervisor for individual and group supervision and training.
  • Assist with delivery of supplies and furniture.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars conducted to enhance and develop skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
