We are currently looking for a: Kennywood - Security Intern Roles & Responsibilities: Do you perform well under pressure and during high-stress situations? Are you at least 18 years old? Are you currently in college, working toward a major in Criminal Justice or a related discipline? Do you enjoy creating a safe environment and engaging with guests in a positive and friendly manner? If you answered yes to these questions, you might just be the perfect addition to our security team! Security Interns are responsible for helping to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees. The perfect candidate should have an eye for detail, a knack for problem-solving, and an ability to remain calm in stressful situations. This position will help the incumbent gain valuable skills and experience toward a rewarding career in the criminal justice field, while also having the opportunity to enjoy a fun and exciting place to work!

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Currently enrolled (or recent graduate) of a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Health & Safety, Emergency Management, or related discipline is required
  • 1+ year of previous security or related experience highly desired
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Pennsylvania Child Labor Laws
  • Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to apply knowledge of security methods, procedures, interviewing, listening, and note-taking techniques for specific situations
  • Ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs
  • Ability to analyze people and/or situations quickly and calmly and take appropriate actions in a quick and effective manner
  • Ability to operate a variety of electronic equipment, such as cameras, radios, personal computers, or other communication devices
  • Ability to professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members, external first responders, and emergency personnel during emergency situations
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday
  • Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders
  • Ability to walk, stand, or run on uphill, downhill, or uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time, while using a computer/camera equipment
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more
  • Must have good visual acuity, night vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away
  • This role will be based in both an office setting as well as frequent exposure to all other indoor and outdoor park environments
  • Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions
  • Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of previous security or related experience highly desired
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee physical safety and security of the organization’s facilities/property and people – Team Members, vendors, contractors, shippers, and visitors.
  • Participate in assigned projects that will improve efficiencies and or security processes; evaluate current state practices and recommend process improvements, where needed
  • Manage and report on security incidents and threats.
  • Support the Security team by performing a variety of departmental duties, as needed
  • Oversee and report on security checks/surveillance/monitoring.
  • Authorize access to facilities and ensure that access is controlled.
  • Assist with scheduling and timekeeping activities for security team members.
  • Maintain and review security records; periodically report on trends, anomalies, and concerns.
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership.
