MBL Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Security Infrastructure Support Senior Security Engineer to provide expert technical support for enterprise IT security operations within hybrid IT environments. The Senior Security Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure infrastructure, manage cybersecurity tools, and ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity frameworks. The role requires strong hands-on technical expertise, cloud security knowledge, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and executive audiences. This role is mostly remote; however, it will require occasional onsite meetings in the Bethesda, MD area. With no travel reimbursements allocated. This role is contingent based on contract award.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise IT systems.
  • 5+ years of experience at the Senior Engineer level or higher.
  • 3+ years of experience implementing and managing cybersecurity tools or SIEM platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with hybrid IT environments (on-prem and cloud).
  • Strong understanding of cloud security operations (AWS, Azure, O365) and system hardening.
  • Proficiency in core virtualization technologies and infrastructure management.
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong Python scripting skills for automation and tool development.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity compliance frameworks: FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, CDM.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
  • Experience onboarding and normalizing data for enterprise security monitoring.
  • Prior experience supporting federal agencies or large-scale enterprise cybersecurity operations.
  • Familiarity with security operations center (SOC) workflows and incident response processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, maintain, and support enterprise IT systems across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).
  • Apply cloud security best practices for AWS, Azure, and O365, including migration and system hardening.
  • Implement and manage enterprise cybersecurity tools, including Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
  • Onboard, normalize, and integrate data pipelines into SIEM platforms for continuous monitoring and threat detection.
  • Manage Windows/Linux servers, network appliances, endpoints, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Apply DevSecOps practices, ensuring secure coding, automated testing, and security integration in build and deployment processes.
  • Develop scripts, particularly in Python, for automation, reporting, and security tool integration.
  • Ensure systems and processes comply with federal cybersecurity frameworks including FISMA, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-92, OMB M-21-31, and CDM.
  • Perform risk analyses to identify, assess, and mitigate security vulnerabilities and operational risks.
  • Provide recommendations to improve security posture and address systemic security issues.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, third-party vendors, and federal stakeholders to implement secure infrastructure solutions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to technical teams, non-technical stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve security issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
