About The Position

PURPOSE STATEMENT The Security Guard proactively helps to provide a secure and safe environment that allows everyone using the healthcare facilities to receive quality services with minimal threats against their personal well-being or their property. The Security Guard will assist employees, patients, and visitors with parking needs, controlling entrances and exits to parking lots. Patrolling hospital campus and report safety and security issues according to department procedures. Provides personal escort and other routine security services to employees, patients, and visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of working experience in the security industry required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 12 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Ability to walk, run, jump, stoop, crawl, lift up to 75 pounds and be able to respond to any type of emergency situation.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid CPI Certification or equivalent, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Protect property and staff by conducting interior and exterior rounds, observing for safety and security issues, theft, and monitoring of parking lots.
  • Promote visitor and employee safety while they are on the organization’s property by providing door checks, detecting lighting deficiencies, confirming proper operation of elevators, assisting with disruptive individuals, patient restraints and provides escorts to both staff and clients when requested.
  • Respond to overhead pages or requests for assistance, including escorting emergency personnel through the building.
  • Provide professional customer service when dealing with complex and dynamic situations when approached by staff or clients and utilizes a proactive approach to identifying safety and security hazards by communicating with clinical staff.
  • Complete incident reports and shift logs and forward to appropriate individuals.
  • Provide maintenance assistance through property conservation and campus safety approaches such as: alarm testing, check life safety equipment, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), oxygen tanks, fire extinguishers, access control, badging, etc., door integrity checks etc.
  • Maintain security presence in building. Serve as a deterrent for suspicious activity.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
