Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven work experience as a security officer or relevant position preferred.
• Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety.
• Familiarity with report writing.
• Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
• Ability to operate CCTV systems and other security equipment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing stairs, and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
• Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to maintain security of premises.
• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
• Call police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Circulate among visitors, patrons, or employees to preserve order and protect property.
• Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Operate detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
• Escort individuals to specified locations or provide personal protection.
• Warn persons of rule infractions or violations and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
