About The Position

As a Security Guard - Unarmed Patrol in Grand Rapids, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at an education and medical learning location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, patients, and/or visitors by carrying out post orders, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter routes to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Monitor and control access at designated entrances, verify identification and/or authorization as required, and assist with visitor directions and check-in procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, disturbances, and/or suspicious activity, and coordinate with campus contacts and public responders as needed.
  • Document and report security-related incidents, hazards, and maintenance concerns through written reports and notification protocols, and preserve observations for follow-up review.
