As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a government location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine foot patrols, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access control and visitor badging while delivering strong customer service and clear communication to staff and the public. Requirements

  • A New York State Security Guard License is required.
  • At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.
  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma and/or GED.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Being comfortable using a computer and/or tablet is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients, employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a government office location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalating disputes when appropriate and promptly notifying supervisors and/or public agency contacts.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, entrances, common spaces, and the exterior perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or damage; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
  • Monitor access points and visitor traffic by observing entry and exit activity, verifying authorization as directed, and assisting with directions and/or basic inquiries.
  • Document observations, incidents, and patrol activity in written reports and/or electronic logs, and communicate relevant information during shift transitions.
