About The Position

As a Security Guard - Gatehouse Check-In in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a busy utilities location, you will help manage entry and exit points, verify credentials, issue badges, and maintain accurate visitor and contractor logs using a computer and/or tablet. You will remain visible, conduct routine rounds of assigned areas, and communicate clearly with site personnel to help identify and report security-related concerns. Requirements

  • Have at least 1+ years of security-related experience.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet preferred.
  • Have access control and/or badge experience preferred.
  • At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to personnel and visitors by following site-specific security-related procedures, access control policies, and/or emergency response activities at a utility location.
  • Control entry and exit points by verifying credentials, issuing temporary badges, maintaining visitor logs, and coordinating contractor check-in and check-out in accordance with site requirements.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and access control systems, and report irregular activity, hazards, and/or system issues to site contacts per established protocols.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, completing notifications, documentation, and post-incident reporting as required.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around buildings, restricted areas, and the perimeter, with working environments and conditions that may vary by location.
