About The Position

As a Security Guard - Gate Screening in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. Join Allied Universal at a utilities location where you will manage access control and badge verification, greet employees and visitors, and help maintain orderly entry points. You will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine patrols as needed, document security-related activity, and communicate clearly with site teams. Requirements

  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • At this site there are limited on-site facilities such as portable toilets and rustic guard shacks.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Control access at entrances, gates, and/or checkpoints by verifying identification, issuing and retrieving badges or credentials, and directing authorized personnel and visitors.
  • Screen and log visitors, vendors, and deliveries, confirm appointments or work orders, and coordinate access with site contacts while maintaining required documentation.
  • Monitor access control systems, cameras, and/or alarms; report irregular activity; and respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, including building entrances and the perimeter, to help to deter unauthorized access and document observations in shift reports.
