About The Position

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Security Engineer to support modernization efforts. This position will be located in Hampton, VA at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and will be a fully onsite position. We are seeking a Security Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure digital infrastructures. You will develop and enforce security protocols, operate and enhance cybersecurity systems, and ensure the protection and resilience of the organization’s information assets. Also, be responsible for maintaining a robust security posture across all environments while supporting both internal and external stakeholders with expert guidance and technical oversight. This position is located at Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Virginia.

Requirements

  • High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience)
  • Clearance: TS SCI
  • Active TS/SCI Eligibility
  • Expert knowledge in fundamental and advanced cyber security
  • DoD 8140 IAM Level III certification (CISSP, GSLC, CISM)
  • Proven experience developing, operating and maintaining security systems
  • Extensive knowledge of operating systems and database security
  • Proficiency in networking technologies, network security and network monitoring solutions
  • Knowledge of security systems including anti-virus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems and intrusion detection and notification systems
  • In-depth knowledge of security protocols and principles
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to solve complex problems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related field
  • Proficient in secure network architectures, encryption technologies and standards, application security, virtualization technologies and secure coding practices.
  • Familiar with identity and access management principles, networking routing techniques, social engineering, Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) and gate way anti-malware.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute and track the performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure and computer systems
  • Design computer security strategy and engineering comprehensive cybersecurity architecture
  • Identify, define and document system security requirements and recommend solutions to management
  • Configure, troubleshoot and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Install software that monitors systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions.
  • Monitor systems for irregular behavior and set up preventive measures
  • Plan, develop, implement and update company’s information security strategy
  • Educate and train staff in information system security best practices
