About The Position

SAIC is seeking qualified Security Engineer with expertise in building, managing, and maintaining secure network environments. This role will involve providing day-to-day operational support for a highly secure classified network environment. In this role you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, patching, upgrading, and supporting classified systems and networks in collaboration with GAO technology professionals. This position is on-site in Washington DC. Support may also be required during 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM operational hours based on demand and system activities. Potential limited travel to GAO Field Offices may be required

Requirements

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of systems administration experience in classified or highly secure government environments.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft-based environments, including Active Directory, Windows Server, and Group Policies in classified environments.
  • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for classified system issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Detail-oriented individual with experience creating or supporting technical documentation, including procedures, guides, and system baselines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within diverse cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with RMF (Risk Management Framework) and STIG processes.
  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms, network protocols, and secure storage solutions.
  • Active Top-Secret Clearance (Required).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a GAO Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Defense Department SIPRNET networks and their operational standards.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting field offices across multi-site enterprise networks.

Responsibilities

  • Classified Network Administration: Provide proactive and responsive system administration support for GAO Classified Systems including maintenance, upgrades, and patching.
  • Support system operations for classified enclaves located in Field Offices across the country
  • Systems Security & Compliance: Develop and maintain desktop and server images, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity mandates.
  • Apply security patches and upgrades to eliminate identified cybersecurity risks in classified environments.
  • Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with GAO classified system administrators to plan, schedule, and coordinate upgrades, implementations, and operational activities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and DoD personnel for audits, technical authorizations, and policy development.
  • Incident Response & Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve performance issues using unclassified network tools and resources in support of the classified environment.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve classified systems' performance and resolve system discrepancies.
  • Technology Implementation: Implement, maintain, and update classified technologies, configurations, and authorized solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions to sustain system reliability and operation.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and refining policies and procedures for classified network operations and associated system administration duties.
